Alan has taught standup comedy for many years both at Festivals and privately. With thirty two years astride the standup stages of the world Alan’s ability to impart the ‘how to’ of standup is firmly based and well practised. He has written comedy for stage, screen, and many fellow comedians.

Alan looks for the comic persona in each performer, teasing out their personal humour and finding their unique character.

Workshop attendees will learn:

  • basic stagecraft
  • timing
  • construction of jokes & routines
  • the importance of using all their abilities to “get laughs”
  • what comedy is and be able to take the stage with confidence
  • plus you’ll also definitely have lots of laughs in the process!

Since 1983 Alan has been cracking ‘em up throughout Australia, from Cairns to Perth, Darwin to Melbourne and countless clubs & pubs in between. His routines are personal, ridiculous, and funny, and range from the forests of Australia to the jungle of Canberra.
